Royal Exchange London Wedding Photographer
It is always an honour to be invited to photograph a couple’s special day. Kathryn and Romuald are a perfect match, and I was very pleased to be asked to photograph their celebration. I worked alongside another photographer to ensure we captured every second of the day.
I started my day with Romuald, and my colleague photographed the bride getting ready. I have photographed brides and grooms preparing for weddings, and the atmosphere is always unique. Grooms and their groomsmen tend to be more jokey on the morning of the wedding, and Romuald and his friends were no exception. As you can see from the photographs, the morning was about Romuald relaxing and having fun with his close friends and family, whilst getting dressed for the ceremony.
The Royal Exchange is a beautiful venue, steeped in history and elegance. From the outside, the building is grand and imposing, with tall columns that tower above the entrance. The inside of this iconic building is no less impressive, with arched doorways and unbelievably tall ceilings. It is impossible to walk into this venue without catching your breath, it is simply beautiful.
One of my favourite photographs of the wedding was taken during the wedding itself. The Royal Exchange is such a beautiful location, with its impressive architecture and polished floors, and I was able to capture this magnificence in the shot. During the ceremony itself, as Kathryn and Romuald stood under the chuppah saying their vows, their flower girls were, as flower girls often are, distracted by the wedding guests. The two little girls in their beautiful dresses stand facing the guests, giggling and having fun. The photograph was taken from further down the aisle, and the image shows the scene reflected in the impeccably polished floors, as well as the shining glass windows towering above. One of the main jobs of a Royal Exchange wedding photographer, is to capture the beauty and magnificence of the venue, while focusing on the intimacy of this private ceremony. I feel this photograph captures these two things perfectly.
THE ROYAL EXCHANGE LONDON - JEWISH PHOTOGRAPHER
Kathryn and Romuald asked me to capture the Jewish traditions and rituals throughout the day. From the neat piles of silk white traditional Jewish caps as you entered the venue, to the beautiful crisp white chuppah under which the couple exchanged their vows, the wedding was filled with historic traditions. As a Jewish wedding photographer, I understand the importance of each of these traditions, and always make sure I capture these rituals. From the Kiddush to the smashing of the glass, I make sure each ritual is documented in the photographs.
One of my favourite photographs shows Kathryn and Romuald walking toward the building at night time. The front entrance of the Royal Exchange is simply magnificent. The building towers above the couple as they walk hand in hand into their wedding venue. It is simply exceptional, and really highlights the wonder of this wedding venue. Kathryn and Romuald look equally elegant as they make their way into the building.
I specialise in documentary style photography, and describe this as the art of capturing moments rather than directing them. These photographs capture the atmosphere on the day - the laughing, the dancing and the romance. The Royal Exchange is a beautiful building with towering balconies that allowed me to take photographs from above. During the evening reception, as the couple danced on the dance floor surrounded by their guests, I was able to take some documentary style photographs.
