St Pancras Renaissance Hotel Wedding Photography | Emily + Pete

St Pancras Renaissance Hotel wedding photographer

If you look through Emily and Pete’s wedding photos, you’ll soon find that there aren’t many without smiling faces. I was excited to photograph Emily and Pete’s wedding because they are such a lovely couple. Always laughing, joking and smiling - every meeting I had with them was great fun. They were a great couple to work with, happy to follow my lead with the photography, but also full of inspired ideas of what they would like to see in their wedding album. I think it’s important to meet with the couple before the wedding, to chat about their wishlist and inspiration and come up with some great ideas to make sure they get the wedding album they really want.

I was looking forward to being their St Pancras Renaissance Hotel Wedding Photographer because it is such a beautiful venue. It is grand, luxurious and elegant, and I was looking forward to photographing at this venue again. Emily and Pete had their wedding ceremony in a Church, and that too was breathtakingly beautiful.

As is common in my line of work, I started my day with a group of excited bridesmaids preparing for the day. Hair, make up, dresses and lots of funny memories, hilarious anecdotes and nerves. I love being a fly on the wall at weddings, capturing a group of friends having fun, and also getting to know the couple who have invited me to be capture memories of their special day.

One of my favourite photographs from the wedding is of Emily and her bridesmaids making their way downstairs at the hotel. I waited a few floors up, and leaned over the bannister to take the shot. The staircase frames the photograph beautifully, and Emily is looking confidently into the lens as she walks down the stairs. I travelled to the Church with the bridesmaids, photographing them laughing and joking as we made our way to the ceremony. They were such a lovely group of friends, and were so excited to be part of Emily and Pete’s wedding.

The Church itself was grand, imposing and magnificent, as Churches often are. The tricky thing for a wedding photographer is capturing the intimacy of the ceremony as well as the grandeur of the location. I made my way to the balcony seating in the Church, ready to capture the ceremony from above. The resulting photos are beautiful, the tall windows, streaming sunlight and magnificent architecture tower above Emily and Pete as they take their vows.

As a St Pancras Renaissance Hotel wedding photographer, I understand why this is such a popular location. The exterior architecture is reminiscent of a fairytale castle, complete with turrets, cathedral windows and the imposed arched doorway at the front. I was sure to capture the hotel’s best features in my photographs of the wedding. People want to remember the location of the wedding, and how it looked on the day they said I do. .

Emily and Pete wanted the photographs to reflect the personality of their wedding, and to show their guests having a good time. They wanted to avoid ‘wooden’ looking shots of family groups huddled together, and instead wanted an album filled with friends and family enjoying themselves - so that’s what I gave them.

When the music and dancing was coming to an end, Pete and Emily made their across the deserted foyer at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. There is a beautiful black and white photograph capturing the moment, as the couple depart from their wedding celebration. The original tiles covering the floor, the high arched doorways and the divine window of the hotel are all captured in this photograph. It manages to capture the iconic beauty of the building, as well as the beginning of this couple’s married life. This is one of my favourite photos of the day, and I hope Emily and Pete love it too.
