Pembroke Lodge Richmond Park Wedding Photography | Lori + James

Pembroke Lodge Wedding Photography

I was invited to photograph the wedding of Lori and James at Pembroke Lodge, a beautiful Georgian mansion sitting inside Richmond Park. For a Pembroke Lodge wedding photographer, there are plenty of unique and breath-taking photo locations to be explored.
The mansion itself sits within 11 acres of stunning gardens, neat lawns and perfect topiary. The inside of this impressive venue boasts historical character such as mahogany doors, ornate fireplaces and huge rooms. From the inside, you can see out across the lawns and gardens, and even across to the beautiful scenery that Richmond Park has to offer.
Lori and James wanted me to capture as much of the day as possible, snapping photos of all of their guests enjoying the celebrations. I started my day with Lori and her bridesmaids. They were staying at the Richmond Gate Hotel, another beautiful Georgian building not far from the wedding venue. Lori, her mum and the bridesmaids were all kitted out in matching pyjamas when I arrived to photograph them getting ready.

At the beautiful wedding venue (it really is wonderful to be a Pembroke Lodge wedding photographer), I waited near the front of the room, ready to photograph Lori as the walked down the aisle. I was taking some reportage style photos of the guests as they waited for the bride, when I noticed Lori and her father materialise in the doorway at the back of the room. They weren’t quite ready to walk down the aisle, and Lori was busy composing herself. The wedding guests were totally unaware, and continued to chatter away amongst themselves, as Lori took relaxing breaths in the distance. It was a beautiful moment, and one I couldn’t help capturing with my camera. The resulting photograph is beautiful, and I hope it will always remind Lori of how she felt at that moment, gazing into the room filled with friends and family, as she was about to take her first steps towards married life.
There’s a lovely photo that really captures the love between Lori and James. I pride myself on capturing those special, in between moments at a wedding - the sideways glances and the hand squeezes. My favourite in between moment from this wedding album shows Lori and James at the wedding breakfast. As the guests chatted excitedly, and servers rushed around with food, Lori gazed at James with a look of unmistakable besotted love.

Children are always fun at weddings. As they run barefooted, muddy-dressed and free through the grounds of picturesque venues, or sit whispering under the tables as the adults above them enjoy another glass of champagne. As I was taking photographs of the dance floor, trying to capture the fun and mood of the guests at the party that night, I stumbled across two very sweet little guests. As the adults around them slow danced to a romantic number, these two little girls wrapped their arms around each other and giggled as they mimicked the dancing.

One of my favourite props to use in wedding photos is nature. Few things are more beautiful than a setting sun, or the glow of sunlight pouring through the leaves of a towering tree. As a Pembroke Lodge Richmond Park wedding photographer, I was able to really make the most of all that nature had to offer. I took the happy couple on a stroll around the gardens, taking photographs of them as they enjoyed each other’s company in this tranquil and picture perfect setting.
One of my favourite photographs from Lori and James’ big day shows the two of them enjoying a private moment late in the night. One of the great things about photographing a wedding from start to finish, is that I can get the most out of all that both daylight and moonlight have to offer. Lori and James wrapped their arms around each other and danced on the terrace outside Pembroke Lodge. They were lit by a single spot light from the lodge, and were surrounded by the silhouettes and darkness of the woodland trees creeping in. Behind them, framed by the great trees, was an absolutely beautiful sky as the sun set. The resulting photograph is beautiful, the couple look striking and romantic as they enjoy a private moment, under the deep blues, oranges and reds of nature’s sky.
